Are all of your carriers available with a loading ramp?
The GS-Urban+ rack includes an integrated ramp. The GS-Adventure+ and the GS4+ models are designed for use with our optional Loading Ramp Kit available for purchase online.
What is the weight rating my towbar can take?
Refer to the towbar placard on your vehicle for this information.
Will this hang out too far from my vehicle?
Each state has different laws regarding rear overhang, and allowable overhang will vary depending on the vehicle wheelbase.
Please contact your local road authority for the regulations in your state.
All GripSport vehicle racks include dimensions to help customers calculate suitability for their own vehicle.
Does the carrier disassemble?
Yes. Your carrier can be completely disassembled if required. The shipping dimensions of all our carriers is 86cm x 42cm x 28cm.
Can I transfer this to an RV like a caravan or camper?
Our GS-Adventure+ 2-Bike Rack can be converted to a caravan/camper fitting. Please view the Fitting Guide and contact us once you have worked out the mounting method that suits your caravan. We can provide quote for the caravan installation parts required to achieve this.
Other racks in the vehicle range, including GS-Urban+, GS4+, and Vertical Racks, are designed for vehicle use only.
Do your bike racks come with Lights or Number Plate Holders?
Yes – All of our complete bike racks for cars/SUVs/4WDs include a Rack Light and Number Plate Assembly as standard, including Adventure Racks, Urban Racks, and Vertical Racks.
Around Australia, if your rack blocks your lights or number plate, or your number plate is not illuminated at night, you may risk fines, demerit points, or insurance complications in the event of an accident.

Will your rack fit my caravan/camper?
Yes, however there are a variety of fitting methods and you will need determine which will best suit your particular RV. Refer to our fitting information HERE.
Can I use the same rack on both my Caravan and tow vehicle?
Yes – We offer a Caravan to Car Conversion Kit– This allows you to remove the bike rack quickly and easily from your caravan and mount in your vehicles 50mm hitch receiver. The Conversion Kit includes the Tow Bar Adapter, Bike Rack Hitch Stabiliser (Anti wobble, Anti Theft) and Rack Light & Number Plate Assembly (Be Seen, Be Legal)
Will it take my heavy e-Bikes?
Yes — our Van Rack range and it’s Tow Bar Adapters are designed to carry bikes up to 30kg each, making it suitable for most e-bikes on the market today.
If your bike is slightly over 30kg, removing the battery will often bring it within the recommended weight limit. For bikes significantly over 30kg, we recommend considering a lightweight motorbike-style carrier, as these are specifically engineered for extremely heavy loads.
Can I mount on the rear of my caravan or camper trailer?
No – GripSport does not recommend or warranty mounting our bike racks to the rear of caravans, camper trailers, or other trailer-based systems.
Through extensive testing, we have found that the extreme dynamic forces and movement generated at the rear of trailers can place significantly higher stress on both the rack and the bikes — particularly when carrying heavy e-bikes. While some customers do choose to install racks in these positions, any rear-of-trailer mounting is undertaken entirely at the owner’s risk.
We recommend reviewing the fitting guide, as our racks can be fitted to almost any caravan or camper trailer without the need for rear mounting.
What do you recommend for a lock/security?
We encourage riders to invest in quality bike security and support their local bike shop for expert advice on the best locking solutions for their setup and travel style.
Rather than supplying a basic lock with our racks, we recommend choosing a high-quality lock from a trusted brand. In our experience, many generic or integrated locks supplied with bike racks do not offer the level of protection needed for valuable bikes and e-bikes. We recommend using a strong, secure lock to lock your bikes together and to the rack itself while travelling.
For added peace of mind, many customers also choose alarmed locking systems that emit an audible warning if tampered with, with some models also offering smartphone notifications.
For the best security solution, we recommend speaking with your local bike shop or lock specialist to find a setup that suits your bikes and travel style.
What does this do to my Ball-Weight?
Your ball weight will be affected no matter where you mount the carrier so we always recommend making the appropriate allowances (consult with your local caravan service centre if assistance is required)
What if I'm not capable of performing the installation required?
We have a large dealer/fitter network for our caravan bike racks, all of whom will be able to assist you with the installation processes. See HERE for our dealer network.
Will this carrier fit my motor home?
No. Our Van-Rack range is designed to be mounted to draw bars and some rear bumpers. If you require a carrier for your motor home, our vehicle bike racks will be perfect however you will require a tow bar to be fitted.

Do you include a lock with your racks?
No, GripSport does not include a lock with our racks. We recommend purchasing a strong lock for increased security, there are multiple points around your GripSport bike rack to run a lock through, including the frame of your bike.
All Hitch-mounted GripSport racks can be secured to your car with our Bike Rack Hitch Stabiliser and your own padlock.
Can I use a bike cover with the rack?
Yes, we have our own Premium Bike Cover available to purchase, suitable for the 2-Bike Van Rack an 2-Bike GS-Adventure Rack. Please note: this cover is designed for storage purposes only and should not be used while travelling due to wind shear.
How much weight can I put on my tow bar?
Do not exceed 60% of your tow bar’s rated downward load. This includes the rack, bikes, and accessories. Examples:
- 100 kg rating → max 60 kg total load
- 250 kg rating → max 150 kg total load
- 350 kg rating → max 210 kg total load
Important: Driving forces can increase load beyond static weight. Rough or off-road conditions reduce capacity further.
Do you have a Loading Ramp available?
Yes – Our Loading Ramp Kit is compatible with our Van Rack and Adventure Rack range. It is available in 2-bike or 4-bike configurations and includes all necessary mounting hardware for safe use.
