This is the work that’s done to a frame before it goes for paint or gets polished for chrome plating… because the quality of that final finish can only ever be as good as the preparation underneath it.
Restoration generally involves repairing any accident damage or breaks, along with every scratch, dent or fault we can find. As an example of the type of restoration work we’re doing every day and the quality finish it’s possible to achieve, have a look at the before and after photo to the right.
Of course some people want their frame restored to absolute perfection, while others just want it painted, so keep in mind we can do a full restoration job on your frame, nothing at all, or anything in between… it’s entirely up to you.
And to be honest, 95% of paint jobs we do never need or get “restoration work” done at all (and just look through our gallery of painted frames in the Photo Albums section to see the finished quality)... it’s really only the serious collectors (usually the BMX guys) restoring bikes to original and “show-quality”.
