Australia’s only Specialist Bicycle Engineering Co. Seriously… who else are you going to trust?
Frame repairs, modifications & restorations… painting, powdercoating & chrome plating… custom bike racks & carrying systems… welding, fabricating & machining.
In this first album you’ll see a small sample of the problems we’re solving every day. After this you’ll find individual albums for every specific area of a bike frame.
The “top” and “down” tubes of traditional hardtails, or the bit that everything bolts onto with full suspension frames. If they’re not cracking around welds they’re getting banged and dented. We do both structural and cosmetic repairs.
As well as fitting new disc mounts to just about any frame you can throw at us… hardtail, dual-suspension, Aluminium, CrMo, steel and Ti.., we also repair, replace, modify or reposition existing mounts for all other brake types.
When you think about the stresses being pumped into a shock mount, it’s pretty amazing that any of them hold up at all. If yours doesn’t, we can repair it and make it stronger than new.
Derailleur hangers and the dropouts they attach to break… that’s all there is to it. In fact hangers are often meant to be “sacrificial” and to break before your frame does. Unfortunately though, they tend to take a piece of frame with them when they go.
Not just the obvious bits like stays and swingarms… this album also showcases the other types of problems we can fix in this area of a frame including things like bearing seats, pivot points and clamps etc.
The most common repair we do to this area of a frame is replacing the threads in the bottom bracket shell… but there’s a lot more that goes on down there. And a lot more that goes wrong.
We’ve probably seen and repaired just about every type of damage it’s possible to do to this area of a frame… both MTB and road. Here’s just a few examples of what can happen and how we go about fixing it.
Problems at the head tube include things like cracks (which can run vertically from the top or bottom, or form where it joins the top or down tubes), “ovalising” and crash damage. We’ve engineered a range of solutions for all these head tube issues.
Some seat tube problems can be repaired invisibly… others are going to need a gusset, sleeve or “wrap” of some kind, but the important thing to remember is they can be fixed.
At the risk of sounding like we’re boasting… ask around. We think you’ll find we really are very good at painting frames. And our prices start at just $149 for a frame bead blast, preparation and powdercoat in a colour of your choice.
Doing up an old BMX is hugely popular, but unfortunately, they’ve often been ridden to within an inch of their lives… and then a little bit further. We can make them all look and ride like new again.
Have we had a hand in repairing or restoring your bike? Send us a decent photo with your name and a reminder of what we did for you and we’ll immortalize your ride here in GripSport’s little corner of the internet.
